Meet Our Authors!
Hi friends!
Andy here, and I’m putting my publisher hat on for this one. I want to spotlight the folks who make Red Racer Books… well, Red Racer Books. While I wrote the initial books (and I’m still hard at work on our ABC Series of racing books), I’m lucky to work alongside some amazing humans who’ve been in the racing world far longer than me.
If you’re new here, or don’t know our full lineup, here they are! And don’t forget to send in questions you or your kids have for an upcoming author interview feature.
Here are the Red Racer Books Authors starting with our first driver-author...
Josef Newgarden, Josef's Big Dream + Goodnight Racetrack
Josef Newgarden set the bar high as the first driver author at Red Racer Books. He launched a book and won an Indy 500 in the same weekend. Generous with time, great with kids and fans, and always the last to leave the signing line so everyone gets a moment. Never says no to a good book event. His story Josef’s BIG Dream is inspiring, and so is he. Genuine and considerate. We’re grateful to have partners like him. 🏁
Ashley Newgarden, Goodnight Racetrack + Josef's Big Dream
Red Racer Books’ first female author. A creative force with pro-level storytime skills and great energy. Fantastic with kids and always good vibes. Author of Goodnight Racetrack (a huge hit) and co-author of Josef’s BIG Dream. She helped shape our first bedtime lap at IMS and set the tone for how we read to kids. Warm, fun, a little bit magical. Dream collaborator. Thank you for bringing big joy to little race fans.
Katherine Legge, Kat’s Magic Helmet
Our first female driver author and a truly unstoppable force. An inspiring storyteller, a resilient racer, and a natural with kids. Kat’s Magic Helmet turns self-doubt into bravery, and kids love it. Thank you for every school visit, every autograph, and every kid you remind to believe in themselves. What a hero!
Andy Amendola, ABCs of Racing Series, All About Race Cars
And then there is me. I play the role of author and publisher, but I am proud and fortunate to be an author at least part of the time! I do love to write and hope to keep doing it. I feel that nurturing a love of reading early in life is so important, and when you have books that are fun to read that makes it easier. I guess that's why I love picture books so much, because it combines the words and illustrations to tell a story that you/your kids hopefully want to read over and over again.
If you are reading this and made it this far, thank you for being a reader and for allowing us to make books for you and your family.
And if you are interested in ordering a new book this weekend, use code AUTHORDAY for 15% OFF, expires on Sunday at Midnight.

We just landed in Autosport’s 75th anniversary issue!!!! Just look at all those historic cover stories! Hey friends, I’m buzzing about this one. If you’re new here, hi! I’m Andy, founder of Red Racer Books. I started this tiny publishing business in 2022 with zero publishing experience, just a racing-obsessed dad who couldn’t find the books I wanted for my kids. So I made one myself, launched it on Kickstarter, and just kept going. Fast-forward to today: Kat’s Magic Helmet was featured in...
Update from the Founder, Andy - Hello from Charlotte NC! Hi everyone! It’s been a while since my last email and that’s because we’ve had some big changes on the home front! I’m writing this from our new home in a suburb 20 minutes outside Charlotte, North Carolina. If I’ve been quiet, it’s because we were getting our Miami home ready to sell (countless showings), and once it sold we drove straight (okay… with a Disney pit stop) to Charlotte to house-hunt. Exhausting few months, but we’re...
